Tribes and Natures Defenders
With acres already in transition in China, Hong Kong, Bali and Thailand, we are excited to announce we are expanding our project sphere to the Philippines! In another collaboration with reNature, we are partnering with Tribes and Natures Defenders Inc. to help indigenous communities around the Municipality of Talakag, province of Bukidnon, and implement a regenerative farming model to provide viable livelihoods, preserve land, and protect tribal identity.
Tribes and Natures Defenders Inc. is a non-profit organisation led by Indigenous peoples with a mission to empower a community of over 1,000 people through sustainable education, healthcare, and environmental initiatives.
Together with the regenerative agriculture experts at reNature, Tribes and Natures Defenders Inc. will design and implement model farms focusing on coffee, abaca, and mangosteen for around 20 local communities across 20 hectares. These farms will be used for capacity-building for the community to transition their land to regenerative practices and as an income source for families. The project commences in November 2024, is expected to impact around 200 farmers, and will last for 13 months.
We are thrilled to bring our mission to more markets in the global south, where farmers are especially vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
This is the second project to be funded exclusively by the Hyatt Hotels in Hong Kong. Their ongoing commitment to the 1% pledge demonstrates the significant role the hospitality sector can play in the pathway to collective regeneration.
