The Green Intelligence
Continuing to expand our footprint in the global south, we are thrilled to announce that our latest Restore project will help rural communities and restore land in Nepal. In another collaboration with reNature, we will partner with The Green Intelligence to establish regenerative agroforestry model farms in the Bagmati province for food and medicinal purposes and create market links for fair pricing to build ecological resilience, mitigate poverty and encourage younger generations to participate in farming.
Founded in 2021, The Green Intelligence has systematically restored degraded and monoculture land in Nepal and Kenya through productive food forests to foster biodiversity and build ecological and economic resilience for local communities. They have planted over 108,400 trees and helped restore 148 hectares of land.
From March 2025 to August 2026, The Green Intelligence will work with agricultural experts from reNature to design and build two model food forest farms, focusing on various tree layers of perennials and crops including Tejpat (Indian Bay Leaf), macadamia, lemon, ginger, and turmeric. The project also aims to include native crops such as Bhojo and Timur (kin to Sichuan peppercorn but with stronger citrus notes), primarily cultivated for its medicinal properties and an integral part of Nepalese culture. These inspiring model farms will directly impact over 300 farmers and potentially 900 families in the long run, providing them with sustainable livelihoods, and preserving cultural identity.
As the third project exclusively funded by the 1% pledges from the Hyatt Hotels’ restaurants in Hong Kong , it demonstrates the powerful ripple effect of small commitments towards achieving large-scale, collective regeneration.
Nepal, like other countries in the global south, is under immense pressure from climate change, with over 3 million hectares affected by land degradation. With 60% of Nepal’s population relying on income generated by the land, we look forward to restoring the ecosystem and supporting the livelihoods of the local communities.
